1st Walk done and Thank You!

Monday 1st Mar
We have completed our first walk today walking round Lymm Dam (1.52 miles). The new hip held up well and the sun was shining! My little Henry was questioning why he was walking for another 30 days but we had a little motivational chat and he is ok now (until tomorrow! 😂)

Me, and my boys George and Henry are going to be doing the 2k a day in March to raise funds for make2ndscount, a charity very close to my heart after being diagnosed with secondary breast cancer to bones and lungs in Nov 2020, after my primary diagnosis in March 2019.

Now 2k a day doesn’t sound much (I’m not including daily step counts in this - just walking and cross Trainer) but Bear in mind I had a full cemented hip replacement in November due to the Cancer . I am using this also as an opportunity to increase my fitness, get moving more and get my muscles nice and strong again! (And get my boys away from their Nintendo’s)

I found Make 2nds Count a few days after diagnosis and not only did I find lots of positive stories and accounts, they gift all secondary breast cancer patients a ‘Little Lifts’ box full of treats . The most important part is that they help fund research into treatments for secondary breast Cancer! I am on an absolutely amazing Chemotherapy drug called Palbociclib along with other hormone treatment . After just two cycles of this drug my lung mets were completely cleared and my bones responding well! This drug is relatively new on the NHS, however quite recently it’s sister drug has not been approved as it is deemed too costly for use on the NHS!
Only a small percentage of  Cancer funding goes to Secondary Breast Cancer Research - and this is where Make 2nds Count come to the rescue! 
We need more Wonder drugs to keep us alive  and Make 2nds Count are helping to find research into these! 

My aim is going to be around 5k a day (with the help of the cross trainer) - obvs I can no longer run!
